I lost my Yale cap on the No. 1 “You” Bus in Nanjing, China. (“You” is pronounced “Yo” [cash money!] and means “tourist.”) I was daydreaming when I saw my dad get up and walk towards the rear sliding door of the bus. I figured that he was looking at the map to figure out where to get off. The bus stopped, and it turned out that he was actually disembarking.
Crap.
I ran off the bus and only realized 10 minutes later that my cap wasn’t on my head or in my backpack. I’ve had that sucker – overpriced but sturdy – since sophomore year of college (tear)… Well, the hat was made in China, so it looks like it gets to experience a serendipitous homecoming.
